The Fire Place is a vision for our business that we’ve had for years, but we didn’t know what to call it. We knew that we needed to adapt and change the direction of our business. We wanted to create an amazing Fireplace business, where customers could buy any type of fire or fireplace and get expert advice, personal service and our passion. Lists of names were jotted down over the last year or two, until eventually, we decided not to try and reinvent the wheel. If it was a fireplace business we wanted to brand, then why not just call it The Fire Place!
We are; Killian Murphy & Séad Ní Mhaoilmhia. For nearly the last 2 decades we have been CorkGas, where we also specialised in fires, not just gas, but solid fuel and electric. The current environmental issues throughout the globe have ultimately influenced our decision to branch out into other areas, re-brand and pursue a more sustainable business, supplying of high efficiency fire solutions, no matter what fuel it is.
The Fireplace
We are a family run business going back 3 generations, (the upcoming 4th still in primary school) which have been providing heating solutions to the people of Cork, since 1954,when Con Murphy of Flower Lodge Ballintemple opened his appliance and gas shop on Father Mathew Street in Cork. Karl Murphy then later moved the next generation of the business to Forge Hill in 1971,where we, the 3rdgeneration still remain in the same building to this day.
We’ve spent years researching the brands we are bringing you today. We have curated a range which we believe are the best on the market for each application, be they bespoke, retrofit or upgrades.
Our customers are families and businesses all over Ireland. Those who like to buy from an established family business and enjoy not just getting the best quality products and advice, but personal and friendly service.
